Backlogs gonna backlog

I never thought I'd enjoy it so much but the AGE-2 frame is really fun to build. I just completed a snapbuild of the Dark Hound, and I'm looking forward to the AGE-2 normal I'll be getting next week.

Hopefully I'll have 2 entries done by the time GWBC 2013 rolls around. And I'll be working around a theme for the pair. Dark Hound however, well I'm inspired by Hobby no Toriko's take on it, so expect mine to be a crossbone gundam homage.

Meanwhile I also finished the Shaldoll, which needs a photo set done soon, but I'm still thinking about adding decals to it as well.

Lastly, while i haven't posted a picture, I jerry-rigged the Artimes cannons to work for the AGE-FX, to better complete the F-91 look I was going for at the beginning of the project. Well, i'll post more on that once I actually get the kit back from being displayed @  GKMC2013

Shaldoll WIP

Bashed something together into a generic grunt suit since I was too lazy to complete the parts from Shaldoll Rogue (lol). Used the rest of the body of the G- exes since it's basically the same frame anyway, only the DODS gun qualifies as a kitbash though haha.

I figure I'd need a grunt suit since I've been doing a lot of gundams lately, so here it goes.

It'll be sporting a deco similar to the GM Command Light Armor

with red instead of orange.

Fairly simple, and hopefully won't take too long.

taking tips from Plamo Tsukurou

Working on that dunbine kit this week. Mainly I'm assembling it using the same steps from a Plamo Tsukurou  Tutorial which used an HG AB Leprechaun. so I did some texturing on the surface using a rotary tool and a 2mm metal burr + some Plastic cement to act as a softener.

I also made it compatible with a Tamashii stand arm so I can install that feature later in my planned Diorama, which will depict the Dunbine in flight after felling a Virunvee or a Bozune (both old kits) on a hill. Which means I'll be scouring for terrain supplies pretty soon haha.

As for Dunbine itself, well the backpack still needs some work using the rotary tool, and then the cockpit needs polishing for a jeweled effect. After that it's prepping then painting before I proceed with the diorama. and yes, I intend to keep 80% of the original articulation on this kit, hahaha.

On a very slippery slope.

My first MG kit in 16 years (last one was the 1995 RX-78 on my 6th birthday), holy crap! I hope I don't start buying more of these. HG kits are a handful as it is, but I really love the F91 and it's lacking an HGUC so this is the only option out there... yes I realize an HG F91 would be ridiculously small, like nobel gundam sized, but I would still buy that in a heartbeat.

I don't intend to build this thing right away though, saving it until June or July, since I plan on this being a 1 month personal challenge, to complete the kit (assembly, prep, paint, decals) in 30 days or less. Which means, more or less, daily updates on the blog again (oh joy!)

but yeah no rush. I got a Dunbine kit, HWS Nu Gundam, and a Sazabi Formania and a few more to keep me busy.

At least I'm doing an F91-related repaint right now anyway to keep me excited, haha.

Update: Legilis

|

It's been a busy few days since the last time I posted. Had teeth extracted over the weekend which sorta zoned me out for a day or two, but I went back to work on monday and managed to go and paint 75% of the Legilis.

While I couldn't paint I went ahead and built the AGE-FX, but modded it a little so that it holds the small C-funnels in an arrangement similar to the F91. Then I added parts from the MS Blade Builder parts to give it a double V-fin. I'll start cleaning and paintwork on this as soon as the Legilis is finished, with an F91 inspired color scheme.

Next up: Legilis

Starting to think I'll NEVER  finish those UC kits. Went straight ahead and did the first primer coat on the HG Legilis, then did some spot checking for tiny holes and gaps, filled them with Mr. Surfacer 1000 and it's ready for the second coat of primer.

Keeping a list of steps for the build and so far I have only accomplished 1 1/2 of the 11 steps. Right after the second priming and checking it's going to be the vents that get painted first.

I've decided to go with the color palette of the Zanspine:

I think it makes for a good match and has a lively amount of colors. Guess this means the vents and accents on the Legilis will be mostly red, with the eyes being yellow and having red lenses. Sounds fun!

The Zanspine is one of those designs that are close to being gundam or gundam-like and yet can stand as a distinct unit on its own. I personally think the Legilis is a good successor to this idea and can adopt the Zanspine's look well.

Recently I've also acquired a few more kits to work on, the HG AGE-FX Burst and the HG Aura Battler Dunbine.

Saving the Dunbine for a rainy day, and lined up the FX right after I finish Legilis. Planning to see how it would look in a color scheme slightly based on the F91.
