a new show to talk about
I've always been a fan of the works of Genndy Tartakovsky, Dexter's Laboratory, The Clone Wars (2D) animated shorts, Samurai Jack and now this:
now his new show, Sym-Bionic Titan is chock-full of nods to the classic animation of the mecha genre, as well as the old toku shows (the look of Lance Lunis, the male protagonist is reminiscent of so many of the male leads of shows like Daimos, Voltes V or Mazinger Z). inserted in between is the story of three refugees from a lost planet trying to blend into Earth culture, evading the local Alien hunting agency, the local military, and the monster army that took over their home planet, and now are set on eliminating the only link to the royal family of that planet (princess Ilana Lunis) one of the main characters. then of course there's Tartakovsky's trademark cinematic action sequences that I love about his work. it's mainly a fresh take on old robot cartoons, it's nostalgia-fueled, fun and cheeky in some parts and i'm looking forward to more.

from the next to THE FIRST
so yeah, i repainted my Motion Revive Ichigo from his colors in The Next to how he was portrayed in The First
i'm pretty satisfied with it, though now i want a Nigo and another Ichigo (NEXT colors).
for the meantime, WOOOOO.

the rider has arrived.
from the bike i talked about yesterday, i got the rider today! (though some modding was necessary to fit him on the bike, but i don't care, i'm never gonna give away this guy.

i got him for a deal too! i'll probably have more to say about him once i get some deadlines out of the way but damn! the only thing better was if he was done in his 2005 "The First" colors. i may do that if i get a spare , but for now, i'm satisfied. hooray for 1:18 scale wonders!

a cyclone (or something like it) head this way
crossing my fingers and hoping i bag that Motion Revive Kamen Rider Ichigo from Wilvin tomorrow. I already scouted out a good ride for him, a 1/18 scale Honda NSR (1990) decked out in white, red and some blue.
the model i bought feels off but it's because of personal preference. when i saw it for sale it was already in the colors and looked way retro with the rounded and wide curves of the shell not unlike the old cyclone:
well i figure it's a happy compromise, until i'm bugged enough to repaint it myself but that's gonna be a lot of paint masking. hmmm, maybe a weekend project i could do.

S.I.C.ness begins.
okay i was in the market for getting SIC KT Wild Chalice (which was in stock at the store) but they also had Faiz.
do not be fooled by the packaging.
he's not Momotaros IMAGIN.
i was not expecting to find this guy since i checked the store's online inventory earlier and he was not on the list but wow. instabuy. and i was not disappointed. he is my first foray into the SIC mini dudes and maybe my last (i'll explain why in a bit)
this is what killed him to me.
good articulation, fairly detailed and well done paintjob, very intricate sculpt. he'd be an instant 10 if he wasn't so damn huge compared to the rest of my 1:18 collection. eeh. i probably might have been better off with chalice and justify him as a monster rider.
but i still love you, Faiz.
LOVE.
